Lonely People and Gambling
Many people cannot just remain firmly seated to let time pass, doing nothing at all. They cannot just sit around and fantasize about what they want out of their lives, or think of what they can accomplish during their idle time. They cannot stay relaxed with the quietness of the night, by merely sitting by an open window to watch the beauty of glittering sky; or the freshness of the morning with the fragrance of the blossoms and grass-mist; or the music of the blue waves scampering to the beach. All they feel is that they are bored with the lack of activity, and what they have repetitively been doing for hours and hours, all their lives.
It must be the fast-changing technology and development, and their frustrations over the stone-hearted demi-gods and goddesses in their own society, and place of work, that have detached so many farther away from the intricate beauty and wonders of nature. The pressures of life have limited their imagination on how they can relax and enjoy life to the fullest. Instead of doing chores, they resort to a tangential sort of relaxation, yet more exhaustive than what they think and believe. They resort to gambling in many forms - card games, videos, or sports betting. Most of them gamble not for the very reason of winning a few bucks, or trying their luck for the jackpot, but merely to have fun and to feel involved in something (at least they are in the company of people when they gamble).
Perhaps they do not even realize that they are depressed, that they need the company of people capable of listening to the inner cries of their being, and who are most willing to be there for them. They have no choice but to be with others who are also needful of the brilliant lights and the noise of hundreds of people in the casinos and other types gambling houses.
Must they gamble? Can't they think of a hundred things to do to be more happy and productive, like reading, gardening, or walking in the sun? People who gamble must come to realize that gambling may be fun when it is done occasionally. It is fun when they do not allow it to affect their lives seriously. It may be worthwhile when it is used as a means of socializing with friends and relatives. It should be seen as a way to occasionally get away from the cacophony of the city, and the depressions and burdens of workloads.
Gambling is fun when there is no compulsion to play the games of chance with just anybody, anywhere, at any moment in time. People who gamble should play (if they must) without forgetting to keep their perspective - they can gamble to relax for a little while, and not to become an addict gambler for the rest of their lives.
